New Water Pump Didn’t Fit… So I Built a Franken Pump!
I thought this would be a straightforward job… swap out the old freshwater pump and fit a new one.
It wasn’t.
The new pump looked identical, but the quick-fit connectors were just slightly different — enough that nothing would fit. So instead of a simple replacement, this turned into something else entirely…
A proper “Franken pump” build using parts from both the old and new units.
Along the way, I also explain:
• How a boat’s pressurised water system works
• How multi-diaphragm pumps actually move water
• Why small differences in fittings can cause big problems
