I sleep on the floor in a traditional Sasak hut with woven from bamboo, no walls, just air, and wake up to the perfect cone of Mount Rinjani glowing in the sunrise.

We scooter to a stunning waterfall, watch men balance 60 kg rice sacks on their tiny bikes like itโ€™s nothing, get a private tour of an organic farm and eat raw cacao beans straight off the cacao tree.

Local women weave beautiful fabric right in front of me, we make our own lunch in a restaurant, and then the monsoon hits: in ten minutes weโ€™re soaked to the bone, sliding through mud, laughing hysterically in the pouring rain.

Back at the marina itโ€™s pure magic: several gamelan groups playing, horses being bathed in the sea, and everyone dancing.

This is the Lombok almost nobody ever sees.
