After a hike and a night anchored on the sandbar, I sail the east side of Oahu from Kaneohe to Honolulu. Tacking through the reefs in Kaneohe at night in 20kts of wind adds some excitement to the beginning of the passage. Once Im away from the protection of the reefs, the waves get big and I have a wet and wild ride for a few more miles upwind before I can finally bear off. I finally get a couple hours of sleep but I’m sailing so fast that I almost miss Ala Wai harbor. The wind off Waikiki is gusting to 35kts and big breaking waves are crashing on either side of the channel. Once I’m safe in Ala Wai I sell my boat and meet some new sailing friends and explore Honolulu. Although my voyaging on the Swedish Fish has come to an end, the sailing adventures are only just beginning.
