In this episode we sail from Isla Mujeres in Mexico to Miami, Florida in the USA. We find out if all the work of flying to the USA to start our ESTA visa days and get an I-94 will actually work when we arrive on our private sailboat.
It’s a tricky journey at the beginning as we encounter lightening and ships, lots of ships as we transit across the Gulf stream. Then the Gulf stream actually gives us great assistance as we approach Miami.
On approach we use the CBP roam app and initially get denied by the CBP officer simply because we hadn’t anchored yet. We see loads of similarities between Miami waterways and our home port of Southport, Gold Coast, Australia with all the powerboats and wake they put off as we transit through to find a safe anchorage.
We hope this helps other sailors who intend to visit the USA on an ESTA visa.
