Sailing the Ionian islands with no other boats! Best beaches on Ithaca - Off season Greece (Ep 16)
We complete our sail around the Peloponnese and arrive at the Ionian islands in early April. The weather is unseasonably warm due to a storm in the Atlantic pushing hot air up into Europe. As it's still the "off season" for tourism, we get to enjoy some of Greece's best anchorages and beaches all to ourselves! We visit Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Meganisi and Vathiavali Bay, where we swim, paddle board and have fires on the beach. The week of warm weather comes to an end, and our Schengen visa time is ticking, so we transit the Lefkas Canal and head to Preveza. We hang out there for a week getting jobs done and meeting other sailors, escape to Vonitsa to ride out some rough weather, and then head north towards Paxos.
