Ah, the Parasailor. That beautiful headsail that allows you to sail comfortably and safely in light downwinds. It’s an awesome sail. But for some, it can be intimidating.
Last season, we flew our Istec Parasailor onboard our Leopard 45 Sailing Catamaran on a lovely afternoon making our way up the Exuma Land and Sea Park islands. As we approached our anchorage, we set about dousing the sail. We had 14 knots of true wind. Well, dousing it wasn’t all wine and roses. We made several mistakes causing the dousing to be difficult, exhausting, and very stressful.
In this episode, we met up with Martin Town from Parasailor USA to tell us what we did wrong, what we could have done better, and what we did right.
