Take TWO!
We all know that learning is never-ending. The day you stop learning is the day you stop growing. Well, we definitely grew with this episode.
The lesson is: Don’t upload a video to the internet until you’ve watched it in full, without interruption, and after you’ve had a full night’s sleep. Also, don’t make any assumptions.
In this video, we serviced our Sea Recovery Aqua Whisper Mini water maker membrane. It’s a technical video, and we didn’t think many people would watch it, so it wasn’t highly scrutinized. Servicing this thing wasn’t going well and took forever, so part of the video was shot at 4:30 in the morning. We were pretty tired and frustrated by the whole experience. The manual left a lot to be desired, the company that manufactures the water maker is in the Netherlands, and no one responded to our emails or returned our calls, and no YouTube videos exist on this process for this particular brand. We were on our own.
Side thought – Have you ever been to an event where the media is shooting live broadcasts? I have. I’ve been to Kennedy Space Center in FL for a shuttle launch. All the news stations were there. It was close to 100F outside. The female anchors were wearing dresses. But the male anchors were wearing suit jackets with button down shirts and ties – on the top. They had shorts and flip-flops on, too. But no one was going to see that. The camera operators made sure of it.
Now, back to shooting footage in the middle of the night…
I was tired, and apparently, one of two things was going on in my mind. Either I assumed our camera operator (me) would make sure no one would see that I wasn’t wearing any underwear, or I simply forgot to put it on. It was, after all, the middle of the night.
I can’t tell you how many times I watched these clips as I was editing the video. I must have watched the video in its entirety at least 5 times, Jeff twice. But neither of us noticed the single second of video where I was displaying it all. I mean EVERYTHING!
Luckily, someone commented on it shortly after it released. I thought “What!?!? I couldn’t have made THAT mistake. I don’t even remember not wearing underwear!”
But, alas, it was true. All my girlie parts were out there in cyber land for all the world to see! Well, if you were one of the 220 people who saw it, you got one hell of a show. For the rest of you who are watching this edited version, I’m not on Only Fans and never will be. Thanks for watching it anyway.
We’ve been having trouble with our water maker. When you’re a cruising liveaboard, that’s not really convenient. We have a Sea Recovery Aqua Whisper Mini. It’s from the Netherlands, and very few marine repair centers in the US or Bahamas work on them. And, unfortunately, many parts are proprietary. Throw in supply chain issues, and we find ourselves in a real bind.
So, we had to bite the bullet and try to fix it ourselves.
This isn’t a typical video for us. We aren’t sailing, snorkeling or swimming in it. This is solely a water maker troubleshooting video.
