A random encounter takes us on a road trip across the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico! Coming back from drinking margaritas we find a local boat tied up next to our dock in Isla Mujeres. Her skipper was named Susan, and she randomly offered to take us on a road trip of her favorite sites. We find sometimes that just accepting random offers leads to an incredible experience, and this was no exception. Our first stop is Ek Balam, where we explore the amazing Mayan Civilization and learn about this once thriving culture. After a few more hours of driving we find ourselves swimming in the underground caverns known locally as Cenotes, and finish up the day with a private tour and incredible meal at a hacienda turned into an amazing resort.
