I new the boat was LEAKING- I sailed her anyway! Not a good plan! In this episode we pull off the dock and head out for our first sail of the season. We travel up the C and D canal to the opening of the Chesapeake. Once we are in the Chesapeake we can put the sails up. We spend a lot of time moving the sails around to practice getting them in just the right spot. We watch a beautiful sunset and settle in for some night sailing. Brian is at the helm and I went down to sleep. I woke up to water sloshing around in the galley. The bilge was full of water- up the the floor boards. Brian came down and checked the bilge pump, it was working, so why so much water. Brian found paper towel in the impeller of the pump. What a relief. We anchored for the night but didn’t get much sleep. Stayed tuned for part two.
Subscribe and follow along as we begin our sailing adventure in the Chesapeake.
We are greatful to all the YouTube channels who inspired and motivated us along the way.
