All to often sailors are quick to flash up with engine as soon as the wind slows down, but not the folks on Sea Dream of Clyde! Having a schedule while sailing leads to mindlessly cruising past wildlife and wonderful anchorages all while listening to the drone of the engine. Forget the engine and wait for the wind we say! Once you commit to truly sailing, your mind can be freed of the constraints of time. You learn to maximize your boat’s speed while under sail, take time to read a book, and relax into the ride instead of rushing past all the views.
In this one, we leave Port Hardy and spend hours drifting with the tide towards our destination of Alert Bay while soaking in the beauty of Queen Charlotte Strait. Killer whales swim by, we catch a salmon, and one of the most incredible sunsets of the summer paints the sky purple and orange. In Alert Bay, we awake to another foggy calm morning, but by noon it burns off and we are on our way down the Johnstone Strait. The forecast 30 knots never shows up, but a steady 15-20 knots brings us to Port Neville as the light fades.
