We’re seeing the winds pick up and the rain is now starting as cyclone Vaianu arrives in New Zealand. Lots of our friends sat through this system earlier this week when it passed near Fiji and now it has made a beeline for us on the north island here.
We don’t expect the winds to be as strong as they were, but it seems to be covering a much wider area and the whole of North island is on a storm watch, preparing for high winds and flooding.
We’re seeing winds get up to 30 knots now and we still have another 5 hours or so until they will reach their strongest. But so far we’re all holding strong and only two things have been blown over!
