🦜 Dear diary… welcome back!
In this episode, my humans decide it’s finally time to tackle my hull… and honestly, I’ve never looked worse! 😩
What started as “just a bit of sanding” turned into rust, bare metal, barnacles, old paint, epoxy, wire brushes and A LOT of Graham suffering.
Watch as they slowly strip me back, uncover my many colourful layers from over the years, repair the rust and finally start getting me ready for a whole new look.
At one point Graham even looked like a blue Smurf. I found it hilarious. 😂
And yes… with hindsight, perhaps sandblasting me back to bare metal from the start would have been the quicker option. But hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

Welcome aboard Parrot (a 1984 Reinke Super 10), the steel boat with sass, rust, and a whole lot of mystery ⛵⚓🦜 We're Graham and Rachel—two hopeless dreamers with zero boat restoration experience and questionable impulse control. So naturally, we bought a 37ft steel sailboat that hadn’t moved in years, had a few bees as roommates, and came with absolutely no instructions. This channel is part restoration diary, part mystery hunt. Our aim? To breathe life back into Parrot and uncover her past—because no one knows who built her, where she’s been, or why she was named after a tropical bird. ⛵ Expect chaos, comedy, steel dust, and surprise emotional moments as Parrot shares her story (with heavy sarcasm) and we try to become full-time liveaboard sailors—without setting her on fire.
