After buying a half destroyed Amel Super Maramu, burning out the gear box on our 300NM motor to the refit yard, then being adrift for hours to being rescued by a transport vessel. Then attempting to push our broken vessel 16NM with a dingy out of port. Today we are finally getting towed to our refit yard at Pangkor Marina. To say the journey so far has been challenging would be a big understatement! With only 70NM left, we are ready to get this refit started.

Sailing French Polynesia in 2021 we met the previous owners of our salvage sailboat, an Italian couple. They were attempting to circumnavigate when they had a huge collision around Singapore, getting hit in the night by a cargo ship. When we heard they were going to claim insurance we jumped at the opportunity to own an Amel Super Maramu. These vessels were arguably the greatest blue water cruisers constructed throughout the 90’s and 00’s with a huge following even 30 years on from the first built. With our new tiny home in hand we aim to make a life living off the grid once again and take to the ocean to roam free. By the words of Pan and the lost boys these adventures will ensure we never grow up!

Sailboat refit COST! (How much did we spend?)

Bringing this Amel Super Maramu (one of the greatest blue water cruisers built in the 90's and 00's) back to life after a huge accident with a container ship has been nothing short of a crazy roller coster. This we look into the cost of it all and figure o...

These moments have us EXCITED!

Another week and we're splashed well and truly hopefully for the last time in a long while. We assess the common leak that has been annoying us for so long and the engine in finally being finished (kind of). Join the crew https://www.patreon.com/SailingMe...
