Measuring the boat for a new mainsail was a pretty daunting prospect for me as a first timer. A lot could go wrong, like an expensive new sail turning up in Indonesia and not fitting at all with no way of changing it. The say is, “measure twice, cut once” and we took that a bit further but measuring everything a 4-5 times each. Fingers crossed we did it right.
Desert Point is one of the best left hand barreling surf waves on the planet and it just happened to be located just round the corner for where we had been anchored. With a big swell said to be approaching we woke up early and went down for a look. A long day in the sun but pretty facisnating to watch the mix of surfers from round the world have their go at taming the beast.
