In this episode, we’ve finally got the catamarans safely into their new factory, but 2026 isn’t letting us off easy. There’s always “one last” piece of paperwork (spoiler: there’s always another one next time), New Year’s shutdowns, and yet more spanners in the works. So while we wait on customs and approvals, we take a wander through coastal Vietnam: beach shacks, round basket boats with a wild tax-dodging origin story, and insanely cheap, fresh street food that shows how little it can cost to live here if you’re willing to go local.

If you’re curious about the real cost of living in Vietnam, life around the boatyard, odd bits of maritime history, and the stubborn grind behind a bluewater Aluminium catamaran build, this one is equal parts rant, reality check, and rough-edged charm.
