The Costa Brava in Spain and the Cote d'azur in France are wonderfully scenic places to sail but not a lot of cruisers go there. It doesn't mean there are no boats, the locals love their boats, and as you get further east the boats get bigger and posher.
For cruising there are challenges. The Mistral and the Tramontana for a start. They blow hard from the mountains in the North and kept us pinned down for the best part of a week.
The rugged coastline is a challenge for anchoring too. With the aforementioned small boats, cruisers are forced to anchor in deep and sometimes exposed places. But the rewards are there for cruisers who venture here. We're certainly glad we did.
