SDA199 Spinnaker Dreams: Hog Cay to Raccoon Cay

There’s nothing like the freedom of flying a spinnaker. Colorful, quiet, and carrying us toward a remote anchorage in the Ragged Islands. From crowded Hog Cay to peaceful Raccoon Cay, this is the kind of sailing dream we live for.
In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we leave the busy anchorage at Hog Cay and set our spinnaker for a serene, dreamlike sail to Raccoon Cay. Once anchored, the calm gives way to adventure as I launch my paddleboard to explore hidden beaches and dramatic limestone along the coastline.

⚠️ Lightning Strike Update
In real time, we were directly struck by lightning. Navigation systems, running lights, anchor lights, work lights, a large freezer, and even our keel were damaged. We’re still facing VAT, duty, exchange rates, customs brokerage, and a costly haul-out for keel repairs in the Dominican Republic.
