SDA197 Wild Reefs in the Triangle of Stupid
In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we travel 10 miles to cover just 4, from Double Breasted Cay to Hog Cay. We somehow take the wrong route through the shallows to Duncan Town, where supplies are scarce, but the beer is cold and the welcome is warm. A coral dive brings close encounters with territorial angelfish, lurking barracuda, bold triggerfish, and even a shy guitarfish.
⚠️ Lightning Strike Update
In real time, we were directly struck by lightning. Navigation systems, running lights, anchor lights, work lights, a large freezer, and even our keel were damaged. We’re still facing VAT, duty, exchange rates, customs brokerage, and a costly haul-out for keel repairs in the Dominican Republic.
