Sailing Catamaran Escape - Sailing the Queensland Coast - Episode 68 Curlew to Long Island
Having left Curlew Island we thread our way through the dozens of ship carriers anchored off the port of Mackay. Unable to get our engine oil leaks worked on immediately we decided to carry on cruising up the coast and maybe try somewhere else. We had brief stopovers at Brampton Island and Thomas Island before anchoring at Happy Bay on Long Island.
A short walk around the island gave us a chance to have a brief look at Palm Bay Resort, not long though as they were closing the resort due to a wedding taking place. Later we found out that the resort had been used as a base for the film ' Ticket to Paradise' featuring George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
