Our DIY Solar Power Upgrade (Boat installation)

Welcome to our DIY solar power upgrade for our boat. This video IS NOT a ‘how to’ video and is intended for entertainment for anyone who followers our adventure as we leave the reality of life in a brickks and mortar house, along with our 9-5 jobs, and attempt to build a more self sufficient life, full of adventure and exploration.

We don’t have any electrical installation experience at all, and so deciding to brave a DIY solar system upgrade for our boat took a little bit of nerve, but we were also really lucky in that we found a company that essentially spoke to us over the phone and then put everything we’d need together in an all in one package, with super digestible instructions that even a simpleton like me could follow.

Here is a list of ALL the links in the video that I think you’ll find useful, if you’re thinking about doing something similar.

First and most importantly Sun Store (Curtis is the owner of SunStore and a true gent with his time and help, he remained polite each and EVERY time I called to say I was stuck 😬 https://www.sunstore.co.uk/

The solar panel mounting brackets from Force 4 Chandlery (it’s just where we happened to buy them, by all means shop around). https://tinyurl.com/2t8z8pn

Sea Screw (this is such a useful shop that we discovered through someone else channel initially, although I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I can’t remember who’s, as we binged watch so many other amazing creators, but here’s the site: https://tinyurl.com/42apx6ts

Let’s not forget Carly’s up-cycling sail boat rope to dog lead and solar shop. Everything in here is made with her fair hands: https://www.cadoha.com/etsy-shop

If you’d like to support our film making efforts directly or join our Patreon Post club then be sure to check both options out here, 100% of any many made here goes to buying safety equipment that would otherwise be beyond our reach, by that I mean rather than the most basic life raft available, with Patreon support we can go one step further and get perhaps a self righting life raft, making life much easier for Carly in the event of an emergency whilst I look after Hank in an upside down life raft. https://www.patreon.com/sailingcadoha

Also be sure to check out Carlys amazing efforts on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/sailingcadoha/?hl=en

And even Hank is getting in on the instagram action, although he has a very long way to catch Carly up: https://www.instagram.com/vizsla.hank/?hl=en

We hope you’re all keeping safe and well, and here’s to something approaching normal being bad with us all again sometime soon 🙏🏻🙏🏻⛵️⛵️⛵️
