Welcome aboard Sailing Aquarius! In our latest episode, we take you on a thrilling adventure through the pristine waters of the Caribbean during its enchanting off-season. Join us as we reveal the most spectacular snorkeling locations and share exclusive insights into life aboard a sailboat post-hurricane season.

Sailing Through The Off-Season

We began our incredible journey in the stunning St. Martin, where we were captivated by phenomenal beaches and crystal-clear waters. But knowing that hurricanes can disrupt even the most magical moments, we didn’t linger for too long and quickly set sail towards another captivating destination – Saint Barth.

The Plan For Guadeloupe

With our sights set on the beautiful island of Guadeloupe, we calculated that the distance between us and our destination was approximately 120 nautical miles – far too great to traverse in a single day. As luck would have it, though, the winds were kind, allowing us not only to make steady progress but also to entertain the possibility of an overnight stop somewhere en route.

Dodging Hurricanes

We were well aware that our voyage could not be without its challenges. With hurricane season in full swing, it was crucial for us to move South swiftly and stay out of harm’s way – especially as there was a particularly formidable storm looming on the horizon. We were relentless in our pursuit, pushing onwards even when faced with treacherous waves that threatened to test our resolve.

The Serenity Of Nevis

Navigating through rough seas, we took in the breathtaking views of St. Kitts and St. Eustacius as we pushed onwards toward our ultimate goal – Guadeloupe. We encountered challenging waves but managed to stay on course towards the picturesque island of Nevis, a stunning testament to nature’s beauty even amid turmoil.

A Perfect Anchorage In Guadeloupe

In a twist of fortune, we found ourselves only one mile from our intended anchorage in Guadeloupe. As the wind picked up to a mighty 15 knots, our excitement grew and we knew that despite any difficulties encountered on this journey, we would make it.

The Spectacular Snorkeling Experience

Determined not to arrive at night, we pushed our departure time back a few hours in order to ensure we reached our destination by daylight. And what an amazing decision that turned out to be! As the sun cast its golden glow upon us, we embarked on yet another unforgettable adventure – snorkeling in a breathtaking natural reserve recommended by Jacques Cousteau himself.

The Magic Of The Island

We were thrilled to find ourselves in the company of our friends from Amelit, who had already experienced the awe-inspiring snorkeling at this particular spot. As we approached the island – a true paradise for marine enthusiasts and adventure-seekers alike – the anticipation grew stronger.

Migaloo’s Insight

The island was home to an array of marine life, and our friends on the spectacular Amelit (Migaloo) claimed that this snorkeling spot was one of their all-time favorites. They told us that it would be an unforgettable experience, one that would leave a lasting impression.

An Unforgettable Snorkeling Adventure

We eagerly embraced this recommendation, knowing that every moment was a treasure. The underwater world unveiled its vibrant colors and exotic creatures to us – creating memories that we will cherish forever.

Our Next Stop: The Saints

Bidding farewell to our friends, we set sail for the enchanting island group called the Saints – located south of Guadeloupe. With an appetite for more adventures and a promise to ourselves to relish each moment along the way, we embarked on another thrilling journey in pursuit of tranquility.

A Reflection On Our Journey

Reflecting upon our time spent sailing during the off-season in the Caribbean, it’s evident that even amidst challenges such as inclement weather or impending hurricanes, there exists an opportunity for awe-inspiring adventures. By staying vigilant and keeping an open heart, we were able to discover breathtaking snorkeling sites, savor exquisite culinary delights, and ultimately create memories that will last a lifetime.

Lifestyle Recommendation

If our experiences have left you eager for your own adventure, consider exploring the hidden gems of the Caribbean during its off-season. You may find yourself snorkeling alongside colorful marine life in serene waters or relishing a well-deserved meal after navigating treacherous waves together.
