Setting sail from California in January 2017, this dynamic duo embarked on a daring quest to circumnavigate the globe aboard the legendary vessel, Aquarius. From the sun-drenched shores of the Caribbean to the enchanting landscapes of the South Pacific, join them as they navigate the highs and lows of life at sea, forging unforgettable memories and inspiring viewers around the world.

The Crew

In the vast expanse of the ocean, where isolation can be both liberating and daunting, the bond between crew members aboard a sailing vessel is paramount. Within the confines of Aquarius, this dynamic is embodied by Captain Ken and his partner, Zivile (Isabelle), whose unwavering camaraderie and shared passion for adventure form the cornerstone of their extraordinary journey.

We are couple sailing around the world on our AMEL Super Maramu 2000 called Aquarius. We climbed career ladders, and enjoyed living in Southern California and we always loved traveling. One conversation during the dinner take a year off and go travel started shaping up. Without much of previous sailing experienced we decided to buy a boat and sail around the world, which we started in Caribbean in the beginning of 2017, and still sailing, hoping to circumnavigate the world! — Captain Ken & Zivile, Sailing Aquarius

Captain Ken: The Visionary Navigator

Early Years and Influences

Born and raised in the desert city of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ken’s childhood was a far cry from the salty spray of the ocean. Yet, from a young age, he was drawn to the allure of exploration and discovery. It was during family vacations to coastal destinations that Ken first felt the call of the sea, captivated by the endless horizon and the promise of adventure beyond.

Professional Background

After pursuing a degree in engineering, Ken embarked on a diverse career path that spanned entrepreneurship, technology, and real estate. Yet, despite his professional success, his true passion lay elsewhere. Fuelled by a desire to break free from the constraints of conventional living, Ken set his sights on a daring quest: to circumnavigate the globe aboard a sailboat.

The Call of the Ocean

For Ken, sailing represented more than just a means of transportation; it was a lifestyle, a philosophy, and a calling. Inspired by the tales of legendary sailors and the allure of far-flung destinations, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to mastering the art of seamanship, honing his skills through years of study, practice, and hands-on experience.

Leadership Style and Philosophy

As the captain of Aquarius, Ken embodies a unique blend of leadership, vision, and humility. With a keen sense of intuition and a deep respect for the forces of nature, he navigates the complexities of life at sea with wisdom and grace. Firm but fair, Ken leads by example, instilling confidence and camaraderie among his crewmates while fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Ken’s strengths lie in his unwavering determination, resourcefulness, and adaptability. Whether confronting mechanical failures or navigating treacherous waters, he approaches each challenge with a calm demeanor and a solution-oriented mindset. Yet, like any sailor, he is not immune to moments of doubt and uncertainty, grappling with the inherent risks and uncertainties of life at sea.

Personal Growth and Reflections

Throughout his journey aboard Aquarius, Ken has undergone a profound transformation, both personally and spiritually. From the highs of conquering towering waves to the lows of confronting his own limitations, he has emerged stronger, wiser, and more resilient than ever before. Through introspection and self-discovery, he has found purpose and meaning in the vast expanse of the open ocean, forging a deep connection with the natural world and the limitless possibilities it holds.

Zivile (Isabelle): The Adventurous Spirit

Origins and Aspirations

Hailing from the Baltic nation of Lithuania, Zivile (Isabelle) brings a unique perspective and a boundless sense of adventure to the crew of Aquarius. With a background in real estate and business development, her journey to the high seas was a serendipitous one, guided by a spirit of wanderlust and a thirst for new experiences.

Meeting Ken and Joining the Adventure

It was a chance encounter that brought Zivile into Ken’s orbit, igniting a spark that would forever alter the course of their lives. Drawn together by a shared love of adventure and a desire for freedom, they embarked on a journey that would take them to the farthest reaches of the globe. From the sun-drenched shores of California to the remote islands of the South Pacific, Zivile embraced the challenges and uncertainties of life at sea with courage and conviction.

Role Aboard Aquarius

As the first mate and partner of Captain Ken, Zivile plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Aquarius. From navigating treacherous waters to managing the vessel’s systems and equipment, she is a skilled sailor in her own right, contributing her expertise and intuition to the success of their shared journey. Yet, her contributions extend far beyond the realm of seamanship, as she brings warmth, humor, and compassion to the crew, fostering a sense of camaraderie and camaraderie that transcends the challenges of life at sea.

Strengths and Challenges

Zivile’s strengths lie in her unwavering optimism, resilience, and adaptability. With a natural affinity for problem-solving and a knack for finding beauty in the most unexpected places, she approaches each day with a sense of wonder and gratitude. Yet, like any sailor, she grapples with the inherent uncertainties and hardships of life at sea, confronting moments of fear and doubt with courage and determination.

Personal Growth and Reflections

For Zivile, the journey aboard Aquarius has been a transformative experience, shaping her worldview and redefining her sense of self. From the exhilaration of exploring remote islands to the solitude of long passages at sea, she has discovered strength, resilience, and inner peace in the face of adversity. Through moments of introspection and self-discovery, she has forged a deep connection with the natural world and the profound beauty of life on the open ocean, embracing each day with a sense of purpose and gratitude.

The Power of Partnership

Together, Ken and Zivile form a formidable team, united by their shared passion for adventure and their unwavering commitment to each other.
