Sailing Life: Flying a spinnaker for the first time
As sailors we are always trying to learn new things. We finally flew our spinnaker!! It is amazing how little wind it took to get our sailboat moving. It will become our favorite downwind light air sail. We fly our symmetrical spinnaker without a pole. With the help of some parallel beads with our able to attach our spinnaker to a furled up headsail, and control the height of the clew to keep the sail level. It works surprising well. We wish that we had a asymmetrical spinnaker but as fulltime cruises we do what we have to do with what we have.
