37 – How Many Cruisers Does it Take to Light a Bonfire?

It was a fairly short sail over to Tonga and after clearing into the country and taking care of the important essentials (like internet and ingredients for favorite drinks) we wasted no time in heading over to an anchorage called Port Maurelle. We had several friends waiting for us and plans for a beach bonfire and potluck dinner.

Unfortunately, actually starting the bonfire proved to be more challenging than anticipated. If there is one characteristic fairly common among cruisers, it’s that we don’t give up until we succeed so with a little bit of creativity, we successful imitated our fire using ancestors.

We had an amazing night and I can’t think of a better way to be welcomed into a new country!
