22 | A Boisterous Passage Across the Western Pacific, New Caledonia to Australia

We set out from New Caledonia to cover the final stretch of water before we will have truly sailed across the entire Pacific Ocean. Conditions were a bit rough, with 20-30 knots and 3m swells directly on the beam most of the way. The stiff breeze meant fast sailing and we made landfall in Brisbane, Australia after six days.

The ketch Julia was designed by William Atkin and built in British Columbia in 1960. She is a traditionally built wooden boat, planked in Doug Fir on oak frames.
