Stoked to find more awesome spots in the Gulf of Gokova! (Sailing Dakini - Leave to Roam Ep. 96)
In this episode we continue deep into the Gulf of Gokova looking for new places to explore and we are not disappointed. First we have a great sail East to Oren, a destination very popular with Turkish weekenders. It's a pretty place but a challenging anchorage and after a resupply and marina pump out we cross the Gulf to English Harbour, the location of the President's holiday residence and a gorgeous anchorage.
After a few very hot nights here it is time to move and we go to Cleopatra's Beach. OK, this place is SO busy but it is exciting watching all the day boats come and go and when we get it relatively to ourselves in the evening it is tonnes of fun. We finish with another sail right to the head of they bay to see what we find.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
UPDATE!!! After a few years of saving (thanks Covid) they finally did it. They now own DAKINI, a gorgeous Lagoon 421, and are (re) learning to sail while exploring the Mediterranean.

We are Kel and Al, a couple from New Zealand and Australia who have always had a passion for travel. In January 2018 we left our full time jobs and started to travel the world. We spent two years travelling on a budget through South East Asia documenting our adventures as we went before we found a new dream, to buy a boat! Fours years of hard work scrimping and saving led us to our dream. We introduce you to our home Dakini. She is a 2010 Lagoon 421 and we love her. Purchased in Greece we started our adventure cruising the greek islands. Two years later we have sailed all over Greece, Italy, Turkey and Malta with a winter in Tunisia. Our plan for 2026 is to explore Albania, Italy, Malta, France and Spain before the biggest adventure of our lives, crossing the Atlantic around New Years. Exciting times ahead.
