We really are island hopping our way across Greece, having left Kefalos on the island of Kos for a long day sail south-east to our last spot for this period in Greece, Simi.
It is predominantly a downwind sail, and pretty fast at times, but the real action occurs just as we are entering the amazing secretive harbour of Panormitis, when the wind suddenly rockets to almost 30kts, testing our ability to get the sails down safely.
The anchorage itself is beautiful, with stunning views of the huge, still active, monastery. Kel takes the bus across the island to visit the main centre which did not disappoint, and I do some spearfishing on the way out to Turkey!

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
UPDATE!!! After a few years of saving (thanks Covid) they finally did it. They now own DAKINI, a gorgeous Lagoon 421, and are (re) learning to sail while exploring the Mediterranean.
