We wanted someone to anchor between Gemiler Bay and Kas, and settled on the large bay off the town of Kalkan. We med-moored in a very popular spot sheltered from most winds other than the rocketing katabatic 'bullets' and really enjoyed the clear and very fishy water.
Once again, spearfishing was on offer, but we took advantage of a calm day to do the 1.5mile dinghy ride to the town itself, Kalkan. This is such a pretty spot that was rebuilt after the big earthquake and in addition to its pretty harbour, has some gorgeous shopping streets, good bakeries, and is well appointed with supermarkets. We didn't see many other cruisers making the effort to visit, but we're glad we did.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
UPDATE!!! After a few years of saving (thanks Covid) they finally did it. They now own DAKINI, a gorgeous Lagoon 421, and are (re) learning to sail while exploring the Mediterranean.
