Entering Turkey from Greece - this time Simi to Bozburun! (Sailing Dakini - Leave to Roam Ep. 90)
We've left Simi and it's time to get our Türkiye courtesy flag out as we are crossing the border! We haven't checked in in Bozburun before and we are always nervous dealing with agents and customs staff, but it goes very smoothly and that afternoon we move to our first of what we expect to be many beautiful quiet Turkish anchorages.
The next day, having down some spearfishing and SUPing we move to one of our absolute favourite spots in Turkey. It's always a busy med-mooring anchorage and this time was no exception but its a wonderful spot and we spent another couple of nights here. Unfortunately our anchor winch is playing up, so we decide to move quickly to Marmaris, having a great downwind sail to the city of tourism on Turkey's south coast.

Al, from New Zealand and Kel from Australia met through work in 2010 and have been together ever since. Always infected by the travel bug they finally decided to head off on an adventure and started with Vietnam and Laos before heading to Sri Lanka, India, then Cambodia and Indonesia. Their mission is to explore as many off the beaten track places as possible through a slow travel philosophy on a tight budget.
UPDATE!!! After a few years of saving (thanks Covid) they finally did it. They now own DAKINI, a gorgeous Lagoon 421, and are (re) learning to sail while exploring the Mediterranean.

We are Kel and Al, a couple from New Zealand and Australia who have always had a passion for travel. In January 2018 we left our full time jobs and started to travel the world. We spent two years travelling on a budget through South East Asia documenting our adventures as we went before we found a new dream, to buy a boat! Fours years of hard work scrimping and saving led us to our dream. We introduce you to our home Dakini. She is a 2010 Lagoon 421 and we love her. Purchased in Greece we started our adventure cruising the greek islands. Two years later we have sailed all over Greece, Italy, Turkey and Malta with a winter in Tunisia. Our plan for 2026 is to explore Albania, Italy, Malta, France and Spain before the biggest adventure of our lives, crossing the Atlantic around New Years. Exciting times ahead.
