This Could’ve Brought Our Mast Down… So We Fixed It! Ep-211
We finally took on one of the biggest and most important upgrades you can do on a sailboat… replacing all of our standing rigging.
With our rigging over 14 years old and a Pacific crossing ahead of us, this wasn’t something we were willing to risk pushing any further. Even with regular inspections, there’s no real way to see what’s going on inside the wire—so at a certain point, replacement becomes the safest option.
In this episode, we measure, remove, and install brand new rigging—learning the entire process along the way. From identifying fittings and working up the mast, to installing Sta-Lok terminals and even replacing our furling system, this was a full-on project.
We originally planned to take it on ourselves, and while we did a huge portion of the work, we also had guidance along the way—which gave us the confidence to get it done right.
