We reach our fasted boat speed riding crazy swell, explore Puerto Rico in the south of Gran Canaria, get hit with a nasty bug for the worst possible time of year, raft up to our buddy boats to have a christmas feast, begin provisioning our boat for The Atlantic crossing and The Caribbean and bring in the New year with our Aussie and Canadian Mates!

Welcome to episode 126 of ‘Partyin’, Provisioning & Paradise: Sailing the Canary Islands!’ This week we are leaving behind our land legs and stepping back onto the blue waves for another thrilling sail across these stunning volcanic islands.
The Untold Story of the Canary Islands
The Canary Islands were formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago, resulting in dramatic landscapes with rugged mountains, black sand beaches, and stunning cliffs. Due to their isolated location, the islands are home to many unique species of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth. Additionally, they played a crucial role during the age of discovery as Christopher Columbus made a stop here before his first voyage to the Americas.
Recovering in Grand Canaria
After arriving in Grand Canaria, one of the most popular stopovers for sailboats crossing the Atlantic from the Med to the Caribbean, we’re taking some time to recover and restock on supplies. This place is perfect for both leisurely sailing trips or those looking to prepare their vessel before setting off on another journey further south.
Risky Anchorage in Las Palmas
We arrive in Las Palmas and find a slightly risky anchorage spot. There are around 100 boats crowded into this bay, which offers minimal shelter from the wind but is located near several small sailboats that have been permanently moored in the area.
Safe Harbor on a Deserted Island
We decide to head towards a deserted island for some protection and an ideal spot for a night of partying with friends. Despite our shallow surroundings, we are confident that we can comfortably anchor here without any issues.
