The NEW Nacra 20 First impressions
In this video, I take the brand-new Nacra 20 out for a spin in light winds at Hilton Head to see what she’s all about.
Even in the lighter conditions, the boat felt smooth, well balanced, and powerful — a real step forward in 20-foot beach cats.
Nacra’s goal with this boat is to bring a next-generation option to sailors looking for a modern replacement for the classic Inter 20, Nacra 6.0, Hobie 20, or Tornado.
Nacra say:
“The concept behind the boat is a cost-effective 20′ beach catamaran for buoy and distance sailing — designed for two people, whether for recreational sailing, course racing or inshore/coastal distance events.
It features a deck-sweeper mainsail, high-aspect jib, and full radial-cut gennaker.
Hulls are built from glass-foam sandwich FRP epoxy with CNC-milled tooling for precision and low weight.
Foils are based on the F18 Evolution, sharing the same high-aspect carbon rudders and daggerboards.”
If you’ve ever sailed a 20-foot cat before, this one’s going to feel familiar — but faster, stiffer, and more refined.
