Hi, I’m Lowell. My journey is just beginning. I have a lot to learn, and it’s scary, but my goal is to traverse the North Pacific by myself on my sailboat SV Wahine. Most importantly, my target along the way is to pass through what I am calling “Nemo North” — the farthest point from land in the North Pacific in any direction. This happens to be in the middle of the Pacific Garbage Patch, and while I’m there, I expect it will be a moment of deep contemplation about how humans have impacted the planet, what is beneath me and what is above, and what I can discover in that time of solitude.
