The risk of thunderstorms, unexpected acts of kindness, and an interesting coast lined marked my final few days sailing the Ehime Coast in West Shikoku.
I had to be mindful of CAPE numbers ( Convective Available Potential Energy: see below) during my final few days sailing the west coast of Shikoku. The coastline continued to be spectacular and the kindness of people in Uwajma and Mikame is memorable, to say the least.
I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Tokuda san of Barber Cruise (https://barbercruise-marine.crayonsite.com/ ) and a fellow yachtsman who helped me procure a prime mooring spot in Uwajima. He was introduced to me by Shibafuji san, the boat designer and builder in Kochi. The developing string of friendships is special to me.
Also, the ladies of the Tourist Info Centre in Uwajima went way beyond the call of duty to help.
It was fun too, to follow in the footsteps ( or wake) of Kirk Patterson, the first foreigner to circumnavigate Japan and a privilege to sign the same guest book he had signed years earlier when visiting Uwajima with Silk Purse. https://www.konpira-consulting.com/
This completes my sailing the coastline of Shikoku. Now to Kyushu where I hope to have the boat pulled out for yet another JCI inspection and then onwards to where the wind and waves take me.
Notes:
1. I mention the lime orchards. They are in fact Mikan ( oranges) and Ehime is famous for various types.
2. CAPE: CAPE or Convective Available Potential Energy is the amount of fuel available to a developing thunderstorm.
