SO CLOSE Yet So Far From SAILING AWAY | Harbors Unknown Ep. 57

When people think of the cruising lifestyle, visions of sailing through crystal clear water, dolphins playing at the bow, snorkeling beautiful reefs, and long walks on secluded beaches come to mind. What’s forgotten is the time spent on boat projects and maintenance. And that has been our world for the past couple months. We have been buried in boat projects, but we’re making progress and we are soo close to being able to sail back to the Bahamas, the start of our circumnavigation on our Seawind 1600 catamaran.

This week we continue tackling projects like inspecting the mast, Gori folding propellers and figure out how to get our life raft into the storage locker under the boat. Join us as we get a little bit closer to GO time and plan our sea trial and weather window for departure.

We’re excited to announce we are launching the Harbors Unknown community on Patreon! Visit patreon.com/HarborsUnknown to join NOW!

If you’re new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin and Fabio Potenti, and our French Bulldog dog Yoda. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our @Seawind Catamarans boat, Wanderlust, in September, 2020. We’re sailing her to Harbors Unknown, to explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. We’re sharing our adventures as a sailing couple living on a boat and how it’s possible to live an alternative lifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment. We have set off on our voyage sailing around the world, exploring the beautiful waters of South Florida, the Florida Keys, Bahamas, and the US East Coast. Subscribe now to join our sailing adventure.

I Don’t Like the Beach. So I Went to Con Market.

Da Nang is famous for its beaches. I had enough of them. So I went to Con Market instead. Pork, fermented food, coagulated blood, endless stalls, and the kind of organized chaos I was hoping to find in Vietnam.
