Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin and Fabio Potenti, and our French Bulldog Yoda. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our Seawind 1600 catamaran, SV Wanderlust, in September. We’re documenting boat life as live aboard sailors, sharing our learnings, sailing adventures, travel experiences and delicious meals cooked on board. We're sailing SV Wanderlust to Harbors Unknown, to explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. SAILING Our PERFORMANCE CATAMARAN 1200 NM Florida to Rhode Island | Ep 33
After a few weeks of boat maintenance in Ft. Lauderdale we are embarking on a 1200 nautical mile passage from South Florida to Newport, Rhode Island on our Seawind 1600 catamaran. The state where I grew up, and Fabio lived for almost 15 years, and of course, where we met and began sailing together. With the official start to hurricane season just one week away we are keeping a close eye on the weather. We need to get past treacherous Cape Hatteras before a storm arrives in just a few short days. The waters off the coast of the Outer Banks are known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic with over 600 ships wrecked there. Little did we know the worst of the weather would be waiting for us in New England.
