Day 1. Without Liz. Jamie has lots of work to do before starting his solo sailing adventure: a dinghy to stow, a dinghy to sell and a dinghy to buy. With all essential jobs finished, he sets off towards Phi Phi Ley on a perfect sunny day, but the wind and current aren’t playing ball.

Day 2. Alone. Anchored at Phi Phi Ley Jamie learns that the friend he is supposed to hook up with, American McGee, has had to make a stop for emergency repairs in the middle of nowhere. Jamie and Millie are worried.

Day 3. Beach. American has managed to get the engine going so Jamie sets off for a rendez-vous at a nearby secret island where they discuss engine failure and what to do in an emergency. Their best advice? Anticipate problems with good engine maintenance, and if all else fails learn to do it yourself, there’s usually no-one else around to help you.
