In this episode we continue our seemingly never ending trek south. We decide to jump offshore from Ft. Pierce Inlet to West Palm to save time and avoid bridges on the ICW. We have a nice downwind sail utilizing our double headsails consisting of code zero and poled out genoa enabling us to make speedy progress south.
From West Palm we opt to take the “inside route” despite the fact that we have twelve opening bridges to contend with. When filming this episode we thought the plot line was going to be running the ICW through all those bridges… How naive we were, our fuel issue once again reared its ugly head requiring nearly as many fuel filter changes as bridges… We even lost the engine just as we passed through an opening bridge with the current pushing us back toward the bridge.
We drop anchor after barely making it to Boca Raton and are reunited with our buddies on S/V Delos. Brian volunteers to come over the next morning to help us get to the bottom of our fuel issues once and for all. We seem to have finally found the smoking gun causing our engine issues for so many months….
