The Build Begins / Building Van Floor / 4×4 Mitsubishi Delica Van Conversion / VAN BUILD Pt. 1 Ep.50

In this episode, we show you how we built a sub-floor into our 4×4 Delica van conversion. After giving the van a thorough cleaning, we started by adding some insulation under the stock carpet flooring of the vehicle. Next we used paper to create a template around the wheel wells and cut half inch plywood that would become the floor of the van. On top of the plywood we glued rubber mat flooring and finished the edges for a cleaner look.

Welcome to the first episode in our 4×4 Delica van conversion series! The van we are using is a 1998 Mitsubishi Delica, originally built in Japan. It is the L400 model with a V6 Gasoline engine, 4×4, locking rear differentials for better off-road performance and plenty of room in the back for our conversion! We also have a large metal roof rack and ladder that will allow us to carry more cargo.

We have talked about getting a van for a long time! We have always wanted to do a conversion to create a vehicle that we can take camping and use for extended road trips, allowing us to live in the van for short periods of time.

Although we are not going to be full-time van-lifers, we think this will be the perfect build and vehicle for long road trips and modest overloading expeditions, while remaining fairly simple and affordable.

Thanks for watching!
