Deia joined my sailboat as crew a week ago as part of a mentorship to teach her everything I could about sailing & cruising so she can one day get her own boat to set sail. Since she’s been onboard, she told me about many of the times she’s been seriously threaten by strange men to extreme points! Both while traveling alone , and even in her own home town! So naturally wanted to help teach her everything I can. So she can one day be as independent as possible.
Deia is an excellent student. And as you’ll see in this video, just one session of real practice makes a significant improvement to her defensive abilities. We both came away with many lessons learned. But we will both continue to grow & improve upon what we’ve done here.
It’s my hope that this video will start a dialogue about the multiple ways to women can defend themselves from would be attackers, and if it is a good option for that individual. For those that it is, to then seek out a trained professional instructor.
