An Update From Granby - Acorn to Arabella: Journey of a Wooden Boat
Steve will be staying in Granby full time for the near future to be with family. Here's an update on what that means for videos going forward for now. Next week, look out for a video on a visit Steve made to an Oyster farm back in Maine. And if Steve is able to get away again, he's hoping to head back north to pick up Victoria and bring her back to Granby to do some repairs and hopefully get the sailing rig put together at long last.

Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva.

Well, the time has finally come for Steve to pack up the boat for a while and remain in Granby full-time with his mom and his family. In lieu of a full episode this week, they have a little update.
Update on Current Situation
In the video, Steve mentions that they made it back to Granby, Massachusetts. He and Robin, along with both his sisters, were all at his mom’s house when she started end-of-life care. Steve admits there is no easier way to put it but to acknowledge the situation.
Future Plans
Their plans for the upcoming weeks include taking some time to focus on life events, as they are unsure of how long they will be in Granby. However, Robin and Steve aim to continue creating content during this period.
Trip to Warmer Climates
Once they are on the other side of this situation, Robin and Steve plan to head to warmer climates during winter. Both of them seem personally excited about this adventure.
Ongoing Projects
During the video, Steve briefly mentions that before they go on their winter trip, there are a couple of big things they need to get through first. These include wrapping up some ongoing projects and taking care of his mom.
