LEARNING how to SAIL a sailboat | Week 2 Aboard Phoenix

This week is a bit of a beginners guide to sailing! We have just bought our boat and moved her onto a new mooring. We learnt some sailing basics, like checking the dinghy isn’t leaking and also has paddles in it!

We are Christian and Jen, after being locked down and unable to travel we decided to chase our dream and buy a boat to set off on an adventure. We are based in Australia – the land down under! We are starting here, sailing the Australian East Coast.

Follow our journey as we take you through the sailing 101 with us, as we learn how to sail a small sailboat before we start living full time on a boat. If you need some ‘quit your job motivation’, you’ve come to the right place!

We reckon the best sailing channels on YouTube are the ones that give it to you real, warts and all. We are documenting our trip right from the start and hope it inspires anyone out there thinking about getting into boatlife and doing the same.

Our first week was us starting by working out what type of sail boat we should buy and then how to buy a sailboat. Now we are onto the part where we work out how to sail a yacht!

Special shout out to Megan and Ed who helped out so much 🙂
