It's the holiday week but we're not on holiday. Got to keep on keeping on with the swing keel which I get delivered by Daniel the man of steel. He takes me to his shop to make custom parts and Dan & Dan manage to fit the 350kg keel in place. Bix is bac...
Since I’ve departed on my Winded Voyage, I’ve become reacquainted with sayings like “Getting Even Keeled” in the context they originated. In this case getting even keeled really means getting a new balanced keel for Galopin. It hasn’t been easy, ...
The eternal question of shaving or not. Will I or will I not? The beard does not keep me from continuing on with Galopin's projects. It's almost the holidays and my Dear friend Daniel not only helps but is kind enough to invite me to his holiday party with...
Happy New Year! This week we squeeze four people overnight into a 27 foot boat as we sail out to the mouth of the manatee river during a cold front. We catch and cook our dinner that night and sail back upwind to Tampa in 20 knots.

Life on the hard it certainly is. I even got locked in one day and had to make a run for it. And got down and very dirty in that keel pit. But it's not a very big sacrifice knowing I'm going to have a really sound boat. And when I want to go I'm gonna take...
Living the dream of sailing off into the sunset means that sometimes you have to live high and dry. Galopin is on the dry dock and so am I. While we’re getting him ready to take on the oceans, home is on Galopin up on stilts. The retractable keel was an ...

Work, work, work. After a quick stint in Switzerland to do a paying gig, I board a train to my dear Galopin to do more work. And thanks to Neptune, I’m working with one of the best boat pros in the area. As far as I’m concerned, Daniel is probably the ...

I continue sanding the hull of my new sailboat (a Warrior 38). The goal is to get rid of all the old barrier coat (an epoxy primer). After a failed osmosis treatment 8-9 years ago the blisters are back. Now it's time for the final showdown! Bring it on! ;)...
We reached out to about 8 different Sail Lofts in Southern Florida to price out our sail pack for circumnavigation. Super Sailmakers were not only the first to get back to us, but they were also the most knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. Meet Bob, wh...

This may be our last week in the boatyard!
With all of our dirtiest projects coming to an end we will hopefully move to a marina soon, but to make that happen Jordan is putting in some overtime to finish up our last boatyard projects.
Jordan is finally back to work on Atticus after a month of working a "real" job. Check out what's next on the project list, including patching up some delaminated areas in the hull to deck joint.
Jordan shows us the restored teak pieces (including winch blocks, combing blocks, and cockpit combing) that he's been working on. Next step: varnish!
Something AWESOME is coming!
