It's crazy to see the deck totally transform as we take each step forward. From re-coreing, to fairing, to spraying primer and topcoat, and finally to applying non-skid! Today we finish up our last segment! Last day of sanding... (at least until the next project).
Atticus Update 31: Applying Non Skid to the Decks!
Here we go! We've taped off sections of the deck and are working together to roll the awlgrip paint and scatter the GripTex coarse particles on the wet paint. So far so good...!
Atticus Update 29: Locker Doors, Companionway, and Turtle Hatch Progress
Desiree finished spraying topcoat on the cockpit locker doors, and Jordan is working on varnishing the companionway wood and priming the turtle hatch. She's going to be pretty!
Atticus Update 27: Priming the Turtle Hatch
Spraying the second coat of Awlgrip 545 primer to our custom made Turtle Hatch. The first coat was mixed with 40% reducer to allow for the primer to soak into the pores of the wood. This coat was reduced 20% to allow for a relatively smooth finish and ultimately less sanding around the inner frame.
Atticus Update 24: Topcoat Sprayed!
Great news! We finished spraying the topcoat and it looks great! The stars aligned and weather, equipment, and nearby boats all were favorable. The finish looks excellent with no hick-ups. I almost can't believe it! Such a relief.
