This weeks’ World on Water TV News Show follows all the wrecked boats in the end phase of Leg 7 of the Volvo. The most dramatic was Vestas which was dismasted, the leader MAPFRE had troubles with its main track on the mast which came apart and when the main sheet is pulled on after rounding Cape Horn it tore the mainsail from luff to leach requiring the team to patch the tear. The other was AkzoNobel which has hull damage at the keel and water is rushing into the boat. Meantime the only two boats not retired or damaged Brunel and Dongfeng headed to the finishing line at Itajai Beazil.
