SailFest Newcastle March 30 19 Day 2 Slingsby, Orourke, Wetton, Martin
SailFest Newcastle Day 2 was hit with a “Gale Warning” and reghtfully all offshore crews were held ashore and in the afternoon the local Youth Teams raced off in Elliotts and then the TP52 team reps raced off for the rights to challenge the Youth Team winners.
It was all in good fun and the crews and spectators enjoyed the resulting mayhem, oh sorry, competition.
We interviewed Paul Orourke the CEO of the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, Tom Slingsby the World Gold Medal Champion, , Michael Martin Owner of the yacht “Frantic” andTerry Wetton of the TP 52 association who explains the origons of the “Gold Cup.”
