Sailing under the flight path at Hamilton Island the Race Week fleet includes the cruising Multihull Division crewed by sailors intent on having a good time in the tropics far from winter Australia.
We are on Ian Mewetts’ Social Platform is a Lagoon 570 from the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club.
Built in 2003 by CNB the super yacht division of Lagoon this boat is designed for long distance cruising with hulls designed for performance. She has previously competed in the Hamilton Island series collecting several podium finishes under the stewardship of the Quinn family. Recently acquired by the Mewett family she is returning to race week with a new set of sails and an enthusiastic crew.
