In this video, we delve into multiple projects ranging from creating a router table insert, building a double bass stand, working on my Honda Civic car engine, and a tiny update on some boating tasks. This video provides an interesting mix of projects that are all very close to my heart.
I have longed for a router table to enhance my woodworking projects, and I decided it was time to convert my workbench into one. This conversion involves creating an insert that fits perfectly with the bench’s design. It took me quite some time due to precision being key here.
My passion for music is equally as strong as my love for sailing and car work. A major component of this video was building a double bass stand that is both functional and portable, to make practicing the instrument more comfortable.
This project took me through designing and manufacturing a lightweight but sturdy stand that could fold up neatly. The final product not only holds my double bass securely but also matches my desire for a smart setup in the music room.
My Honda Civic, with 190,000 miles under its belt, faced some engine issues, necessitating a cylinder head removal and cleanup. The task involved examining the water levels in the cylinder head and making necessary adjustments. This project adds to my growing list of DIY car maintenance work.
Although I mentioned some boat work, it primarily involved inspecting internal grab rails and removing the garage roof. The video clips showing this process are rather boring as they mainly focus on dismantling to determine the attachment locations.
This diversity in projects represents my eclectic interests but with one underlying theme — DIY and how far it can take you. It’s not just about finishing a project; it’s about learning through the process, enjoying the journey.
As summer approaches, I’m keen on advancing with these projects, providing regular updates on my progress. Expect to see more work done on the router table insert, especially when creating a fence for precision cutting, continuing the car engine restoration, and of course, ongoing boating tasks as the season progresses.
Whether it’s working on cars, boats, music equipment, or any DIY task in my workshop, it all boils down to enjoyment and learning. Stay tuned for more fascinating updates on these projects!
Finally got round to enabling my workbench to be easily converted to a router table. Very happy with the result. First (test) project was to make a small portable stand for my double bass. Also a success. Took the cylinder head off my Honda Civic to assess the damage - this is a long standing project. And had a look at how I will be fitting the internal grab rails to Serenity.
