Our first time on land in the San Juan Islands.
Heavily forested, thick with pine trees, and it smells so fresh. We walked along the edge of the bay
where we'd anchored and spotted a bald eagle almost straight away. They're everywhere here,
drawn in to feed on the trout and salmon, and the salmon run was just starting.
Then seconds later, a group of vultures, and a load of little otters swimming around below them. Or
sea beavers, as we decided to call them.
