The Reality of Night Sailing, Broken Electrics & Invisible Shipping!

Leaving the remote shores of Stanage for a 150-mile
passage to the Whitsundays, we knew the navigation would be technical. We didn't expect to do it blind.
As night fell, our AIS system suffered a total failure in the middle of a high-traffic shipping lane. Without the ability to see or be seen by cargo ships on our screens, a routine passage turned into a high-stakes game of shadows and radar spotting. We aimed for a sunrise arrival in the Whitsundays, but technical setbacks and tidal shifts had other ideas.
